January 6-Departure Date

I leave today for Laos.
It's gonna be a long trip, partly because I did not notice the 12-hour layover
in Detroit. All I noticed was the price, and this was the lowest priced ticket, so that's a good thing.

I will leave Detroit (DTW) Thursday at 12:45 p.m., and arrive in Bangkok (BKK) at
11:55 p.m. on January 8th, Friday.

Since BKK is 12 hours ahead of DTW , and across the international date line, the
nearest I can figure it either is a 12-hour flight, or a 24-hour hour flight!

I will spend the night in the terminal in DTW, I hope it will be warm, but not HOT.
I am going to wear my long underwear. They won't be hard to carry for next 4 weeks,
and I'm taking a sweatshirt hoody. I will probably leave it at the first sign of warm
weather.

I think I will have an interesting night at the airport, and even if I get only a little
sleep, all I have to do the next day is to sit in a chair for 12 hours.

So, this afternoon , off to Atlanta. Anna and my daughter and grandson, Anna Ashley and John Buck, will drive me up.

I've got some money, my passport, a ticket, and a couple of contacts to make in Thailand and Laos.
It will be a good trip.
